Dear Diary,
You know what phrase I hate, but also use all the time? "She's going through a lot of stuff right now" or "He just has a lot to deal with". I feel like it's such a cop out. I just saw the movie "Hotel Rwanda", and the people in that movie were going through a lot of stuff. The people in that movie had a lot to deal with. Us? Do we have a lot to deal with, compared to the rest of mankind's history? not so much. Why do we think that we have any right to complain about anything, ever, when we have it so good compared to everyone else who ever was? We have cellphones for christ's sake.
Love,
Diana

Diana,
It is inappropriate to use the lords name in vain! Also, I think those are generally excuses to not date people because no one wants to tell the truth and simply say "you look funny" or "you smell bad." Neither of those apply to you though but Regi still says I can't date you.
Diana,
You're missing the point. The issue isn't the sentiment expressed, but the shoddy use of langauge. Saying "She's going through a lot of stuff right," is a weak statement not because the poor people in Hotel Rwanda are really "going through a lot of stuff" while your friend is just having a bad day (and not truly "going through stuff") but because the statement is general enough to apply to both cases.
who wrote that! how dare you make me feel belittled on my own website. geez. I'm the boss of this place.
