Dear Diary,
I am just wrapping up roughly the best 48 hours of my life. The few straggeler counselors and i who decided to stay over the break had a really good time. we had a campfire, went to archery, bought a lot of bulk food at thriftway, made dinner, put on temporary tattoos, and spike went crabbing. We decided that we could all live a cush life here for quite some time without campers.
Another thing that we did was think of camp last names for eachother. Snaps is already "snaps mcgee" We've also got, "wally mcpoison" "hobart kanobie" "big bird brown" "hibiscus von hilton" I'm "shamu odoyle" (from billy madison... odoyle rules!!) being here is definitely an ego-boost. I think that out of camp, people have standards of coolness that are somewhat eliminated here. You might come in here clippity clop on your high horse, but as soon as you find yourself maniacally singing the penguin song with a bunch of eleven year olds, you are somewhat humbled. It's not the real world here really, but i think that the real world has a few things it could learn from summer camp. For example- all humans love skipping rocks. And even though I spent the whole summer here being a mega-dork, i think that i will return to the real world infinitely cooler.
I'm learning another thing. I never considered myself a person who likes kids a whole lot, but after hanging out with so many for so long, i'm beginning to think that they are sort of awesome. perhaps you have to wait until you're not a kid anymore to begin to appreciate them... deep
Love,
Diana
