Dear Diary,
Today after a three and a half hour long class, I was very cranky. I was walking back to our building and it was dark and quite cold and I could have smacked the next person who said, "essentially, it's just..." or "it's a social construction!" or, my favorite is when people end an argument by saying, "I dunno, I just think that's really interesting." If you think it is sooooo interesting, write a book about it, and say something more profound than "I think it's really interesting" in the end. I think that "I think it's really interesting" is code for, "I have no thoughts in my pea brain." Anyway, the point is, I was cranky, and my roommate and I were walking home in the bitter cold talking about how cranky we were.
AND THEN, we saw two big men drive home in this tiny tiny vintage Fiat. It was smaller than a mini cooper and really bubble shaped. with right hand drive! Hilarious! So if that hadn't completely turned my day around, on the next block there were EIGHT dogs tied to a fence, unattended. They were all sitting very quietly waiting for their dog walker to come back. There were two greyhounds in matching sweaters, and there was a basset hound, and a distinguished looking chocolate lab and a black lab. Then there was this little fluffy one that was sitting all by itself. Julia and I had to do lots of squealing and pet all of them in turn. There are so many dogs here but you can't just pet them whenever you want, but then all at once we got to pet eight of them. So just like that, I forgot all about how my day was making me want to shank someone with a bic pen and was as pleased as a clam in sand.
Love,
Diana
