Dear Diary,
So far my summer job is amazingly fun but this is because we haven't started the working part yet. It is exactly like camp when i was little, except you don't have to bring a buddy with you if you want to go to the bathroom. Today i made a candle for my dad, and then we took the swim test and i almost died on account of the water being 52 degrees farenheit. for my international readers this is not very many degrees celcius. i'm not sure how few exactly. the actual swim part is not so bad because it's over as soon as you swim between the docks, but there is this other part where you have to get into a canoe with 3 other incompetents, flip it over, and then paddle it back to the shore completely full of water. i've probably performed this task about 7 or 8 times in my camp sealth experience and so far the skill has not come in handy in the field. so i think we should stop doing this terrifying practice. building character is way overrated.
The best thing we have done so far is a bit of an iron chef competition with coleman stoves. each group of counselors got a random assortment of ingredients and we had to make a two course meal. Our group made what i call chocolate corn crispy treats. basically your normal rice crispy treats minus the rice plus crushed corn chips and chocolate chips. it was amazing and tasty and out of all the awards given we won "best tasting." I think that speaks for itself.
Love,
Diana
