Dear Diary,
Today it was sunny! In conclusion, I don´t hate Brazil. I layed on the beach. I swam in the gloriously warm water. I got ripped off by a man selling cashews from a big bag he was carrying on his shoulder. I wanted to say, "I know that you dont´t give that crappy price to people who speak Portuguese!" but i don´t speak portuguese so I couldn´t say that to him. Do you see my predicament?
The other day, I was walking with my family (who else?) and these prepubescent boys walked by and one said something really obscene directed at me in English. I´m guessing it was one of the only English phrases he knew. I didn´t know what to say to him, but my brother turned around and yelled at them in Portuguese- "does your mother know where you are you little shit?" and then I think he swore a lot or something. and these boys started running! like Alex was going to beat the crap out of them! It was really great. I was so proud that my brother defended me like that... and in Portuguese! Nossa! Que Legal! (see how good my portuguese is?) That´s never happened before.
We went to a samba club the other night, and all the boys there knew all these sweet moves that they all do in unison. Samba is amazing. I felt like I had two left feet. I was also wearing my glasses and a sweater around my waist. oh, and havianas. sexy. Alex says that he´s noticed that the girls in the US and Brasil are about the same at dancing, but Brazilian boys are way better. I would have to agree.
Love,
Diana
